After hitting a trail just next to Twister and getting a little sideways my Jeep wouldn't go into 4lo anymore. Oh well right no big deal just wheeled the rest of the weekend in 4hi. Didn't know why it wouldn't shift until I got home and did a little inspection.

Still had a great time. Anyone have a D300 case?

I know Matt, I just sold my parts 300 a little while ago. Those things never go bad... :)

Wasn't really bouncing. I guess it was just in a bind.

Just thought I would let ya know that I figured out how I broke the case on this Dana 300. I originally thought that there must have been a faulty bearing that must have seized and broke apart and then one of those parts got lodged between between the gears and POW. Now I don't think it happened like that at all. I remember when I got in a bind in this wash out that my rear springs had let me rear axle wrap up a whole bunch. I think what happened was that the rear axle rotated up enough to put the driveshaft in a bind and because I didn't have any wheel speed I didn't break a u-joint but the stress of the 401/nv4500/d300 with 4to1 had to go somewhere. When gears have power put through them they have a force that makes the gears force themselves apart. So I think the case broke because of excessive separating force. Gotta fix that axle wrap.
