Just talked to AllStar in Baton Rouge (after calling a few others and getting shutdown) and they seemed relatively friendly. They won't install, but they won't deny warranty unless the lift caused the damage. I'm gonna call some others, including Musson Patout and see who is the friendliest. I'll post up my results.

They won't deny it unless the lift caused the damage because they can't, it's illegal. Read up on the Magnuson-Moss act.

Greetings everyone, I'm new here and could use some advice. I recently pulled the 5spd tranny out of my doner 85 to replace the junky lil 4spd in my 79 and need to find a shop that will shorten my rear driveshaft as the new(er) trans is a bit longer. Any suggestions? I'm in covington but would be willing to drive a ways to get this done. Thanks yall

Not sure of anyone in Covington who can do it and balance it. If you call Margot's in Baton Rouge (225.927.3700) and ask for Toby he'll tell you how to measure how much you need and he can shorten it for $50 with the guarantee it'll be balanced as long as it was balanced from the start.

Save the hassle and pick one up for a manual tranny. YotaTech is a good place for early gen pick ups...that or try the marlin board. Ton of people over there putting in doublers and getting rid of their shafts.

Awesome, I'll have to give them a ring tomorrow morning. I'll try to document as much as I can and post it up here as it progresses for all to see. This swap sounds fairly common when I search forums online but I've found very little in the way of photos or write ups explaining the procedure...

Once the trans in take a measurement flange to flange and if its a single cab short bed, a 4runner rear driveshaft might fit. Or get the DS out of the donor truck.

I am in need of a mechanic in or around the Baton Rouge area to work on a Suzuki 3 cylinder mini truck. I have been unable to find anyone and need help. Anyone within a reasonable distance would be great. Thanks

Look up Bill's Auto Repair in Prairieville. I think he can help you.

I know almost nothing about these, but I have had a few mitsubishi street trucks and I once looked at a 3 cyl plant truck and it was essentially a scaled down version of the one I drove.
What exactly is the probem with yours?
I believe the internet is your friend on this, I dont know of any mechanic that messes with them.

I ended up finding a company in lafayette area that sells and services them... My dad had the motor rebuilt by a mechanic that supposedly was familiar with them and it has never run right since. The other day it was idling high when we put it up and when we went back to the camp one of the guys said it "just killed". We cant get it to start now. This company (cajun mini trucks) seems promising seeing as they buy them, restore them, and then sell them.

Same as any other, figure out which is missing- fuel, air, spark and go from there.

I've worked on the front end of one before, but not the motor. Since then, I've wanted one of my own! They are fun little trucks!
