I would have never believed it but it's true, the Lexus did infact pull the Jeep out, but did the Lexus take the by-pass of said obsticle?
Come on now, let's be fair! As I've seen the "Space Shuttle" take off with far less vertical speed than the "Lexus-Luxx-Limo" LAUNCHED at here! And I'm thinking that this was the hill that he obtained a little body damage on, was it not? (All of which probably came from the tops of the trees that he took out on take off -OR- was that the landing, can't remember which)? And sure the Lexus may have had his fair share of high center issues and the like, however he darn sure made it up that hill though, right? So the Lex-Lux-Limo may not be much of a Crawler (long jumper is more like it), however he still topped that hill nonetheless! So it matters not whether he flew up there (like dem shot through a gun) or he launched off with rocket boosters on his side (just for fun), but either way he made it up there my friend! And that's all that really matters in the end! But the worst thing of all, and I hate to say it, I really do! As it sounds so cliche' but alas tis true! Because in the end it truly pains me to know, that I was just "SIX INCHES" short of making it! <<I know, I know, story of my life, right??>> Although, please do understand that I'm not here to rib on the Lexus, man! As you gotta love the balls he had just for bring it out (as that is what like an $80K vehicle these days)? And what gets me is that he has wheeled this same trek before (not in the Lexus though)! So he knew how tight some of this stuff was (and yet he brought it out to play anyways)! NOW THAT TAKES BALLS! So major Kudos to the Tan Lex Slant as he was venturing where few would care to go in a hot rod limo! So give Mr. Lexus the credit that he truly deserves as I can't say that I would have wheeled my wife's $80K ride, would you???
The damage was from before or at the hill by the pond where the car is buried, RF fender had a scuff and dent. But yeah, definitely deserves some kudos for bring it out on the trail with Michelin street tires. Though it is basically a Land Cruiser (Prado) with some extra luxury goodies....so I would expect it to perform well due to the heritage. The second hill is always a problem for modified vehicles, especially those with larger spring lifts and wide tires. Stock to semi-stock vehicles handle it fine most of the time, depending on the driver.
I used to own the silver Jeep right behind that fine "Strapping White Example" and I have ridden this course numerous times (with it and it has a lot more mods and sits higher even). However, I have never had a problem there before! Although I agree with you about the whole ride height issue and all of that! As this was my first ride in the new (to me) Jeep. So this was more or less a shake down run (to kind of sort things out and get a feel for it as well). Although i have to admit that I expected more out of it for sure! As it already has a lot of the right ingredients (aussie locker front, spool rear <<that's scary>>, 44 rear, 4:56's, Gen IV LS-X (w/ Thumper Cam and upgraded Valve Train), built 4L60E (Corvette/Billet Servos, high density clutches, heavy duty cooler, yank converter) and the list goes on! And it has a Rough Country 6" short arm lift (which is where the problems come in)! As the Lift apparently has some rather unsavory (and very serious) spring rate issues! Which is why we seemed to spend more time with front end in the air than we did with it did on the ground! Which is what lead to the strap as it would still move (just straight up is all)! So it was a rather frustrating (if not hair raising experience). However, it will be better next time!! Although it was all a lot of fun! Even down to the strap and / or ribbing thereof! Thanks for the video!!
Nice video. But ya'll don't be razzin' too much on the Lexus. As mentioned, it is the same as the FZJ80 Land Cruiser and both perform quite well off road. This one we call The Queen but she is far from it. I have seen Scott go through trails that I wouldn't go through in my FJ40. But he does have AT's and a snorkel. bizzle: And he DD this thing to boot.
Nah Man, Nothing doing! As this guy deserves respect just for showing and having that do what she was made to do! And to be honest his only "Hang Up" (pun intended) was that of a high centering! Because with a little more clearance he would have had no problem whatsoever! What is really amazing is tbe tight sections on that trail (which even a stock width TJ would have to pay attention to) that he somehow made it through? And even turned around in that same tight section! So yeah the Lexus is a very capable vehicle (and very unsuspecting at that)! But biggest kudos of all go to it's owner for rolling a vehicle like that through there! Hah! My Mother has the slightly shorter wheelbased V-8 Version and I can't imagine taking it out there!! So this guy showed balls I'd say!! Besides he made it up that hill that I had to take a strap from him on!!! <<For the Jeep purists out there you needn't worry though as I'm fixing the suspension issues even as we speak! So it won't be like that next time though!!>>
